Pundit Simon Jordan has claimed that the Premier League is “in danger” of becoming like the Bundesliga, due to the recent dominance from Manchester City.
Let’s add a bit of context to that situation, what Jordan means by this is the Bundesliga in his eyes has become a one-team league and believes Man City could do the same in England’s top flight.
Bayern Munich have won every German league title since 2013, with Borussia Dortmund being the last side to win the Bundesliga in the 2011/12 campaign.
Speaking to TalkSport, he’s what Jordan had to say on the matter.
He stated, “I think we’ve got real jeopardy in this Premier League. I think we’re in danger with Man City of a Bundesliga effect. Because I think Bayern Munich have got the Bayern Munich effect dominating their league, which makes it an uncompetitive league and not particularly interesting one. That’s not Man City’s fault.
“I don’t see anything stopping them [City winning the league year in and year out].”
City are certainly forcing teams to push themselves to the limit, with Liverpool being the last team that wasn’t Guardiola’s side to win the league.
Arsenal came very close this season, but haven’t done enough. Dropping a number of points in recent weeks including a defeat at the Etihad.
The next number of seasons will depend on how well other Premier League sides equip. Perhaps a team like Newcastle United with its wealth could build itself into a challenger in the coming seasons, but only time will tell.
