Manchester United are seriously interested in signing the Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.
The 26-year-old has helped the Italian club win the Serie A title this season and he has established himself as a reliable performer at the back for them. His performances have attracted the attention of the Premier League club and it remains to be seen whether Manchester United can get a deal done.
Apparently, the South Korean international has a release clause of around €50 million in his contract which will come into effect during the first two weeks of July. Manchester United are reportedly (h/t SportWitness) willing to trigger his exit clause in order to bring him to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils must look to bring in an upgrade on players like Harry Maguire and the South Korean international could prove to be a quality acquisition.
The 26-year-old could partner with the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in a back three at Old Trafford. He has the defensive ability and the physicality to succeed in English football.
Kim Min-jae in action for Napoli
Min-jae has certainly proven himself in Italian football and the opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Premier League could be an attractive option now. It could be the ideal next step in his career.
Manchester United will be hoping to challenge for the major trophies and they need a better squad in order to close the gap with clubs like Manchester City. Signing a reliable central defender should be a priority for them this summer and Kim Min-jae certainly fits the profile.
