Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane Keane believes that Mason Mount’s level dropped off and says he went missing in the past couple of seasons.
Mount ended this season with his last appearance for Chelsea coming on April 15th as he underwent surgery on an abdominal injury that had been affecting him for some time, which stopped him from adding to his three goals and six assists this campaign in what was a rollercoaster campaign for him and Chelsea.
Finishing 12th in the league, it’s been a season to forget for Chelsea and they now seem resigned to losing Mount this summer with no positive moves made in regard to contract extension talks and his sombre walk across the Stamford Bridge pitch after the Blues’ 1-1 draw with Newcastle yesterday suggested that he may be on the move this summer.

With David Ornstein reporting on Wednesday that should Mount leave Chelsea, his preferred destination would be Manchester United, this would signal a huge loss for the Blues if their two-time Player of the Year heads to a league rival.
Despite his decent showings over the past few seasons for Chelsea, Keane said on Sky Sports yesterday that he felt the 24-year had dropped in performance level in recent campaigns.
“He’s just gone off the boil a little bit.
“I know he can bounce back and he’s got the quality, I was raving about him a few years ago, but he has just gone missing in the last year or two – getting one or two injuries, the fact that he can’t get into this bad Chelsea team.”
Some strong words from Keane and it’ll be interesting to see if his former club make a move for Mount if he fails to agree on a new Chelsea contract in the next month.
