Arsenal have reportedly been handed a potential transfer boost with the news that Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo does not look likely to make his loan at Bayern Munich permanent.
The Gunners have recently been named as among Cancelo’s suitors ahead of the summer in a report from 90min.
The Portugal international left Man City for Bayern in January, moving to the Allianz Arena on loan until the end of the season, with Florian Plettenberg explaining that there is the option to make the move permanent for €70million.
However, the reporter adds that it currently looks unlikely that a permanent deal will happen, as per the Sky Germany journalist’s tweet below…
News #Cancelo: Been told that it‘s very difficult to sign him permanently. Even Cancelo himself does not expect to play for Bayern beyond the end of the season.
Tendency at this stage: He will leave Bayern in summer but the bosses are trying to find a solution.

Cancelo could be a useful signing for Arsenal, giving them more depth at both right-back and left-back, and perhaps even in midfield.
Still, it remains to be seen if City will be prepared to allow more players to move to the Emirates Stadium after the success of both Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko this season.
Although Arsenal now look almost certain to miss out on the title, bringing in both Jesus and Zinchenko from City helped them run Pep Guardiola’s side pretty close, so he won’t want to gift them another top player.
